FACTS ON VAPES
Dr Mike McKean a prominent UK health expert has sounded the alarm about the widespread use of vaping among teenagers, describing it as an "epidemic." He warns that vaping could lead to long-term addiction issues and lung damage, with potentially severe consequences for public health.

MARKETING STRATEGIES
Concerns have been raised about the marketing strategies of vaping companies, which may be targeting young people with appealing flavours and enticing advertisements.

RISE IS UNDERAGE VAPERS
The GOV.UK website have shared that due to their low cost and simplicity, disposable vapes have become the preferred option for underage users. In Great Britain, 69% of current vapers aged 11 to 17 utilise disposable vapes, representing a notable rise from 7.7% in 2021
While vaping is often promoted as a smoking cessation tool, there are concerns that it could act as a gateway to smoking for young people.
FLAVOUR
APPEAL
Flavoured e-cigarettes are particularly popular among young people. A study published by US scholars explored the reasons why young people start and stop using electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes). It found that among youth who initiated e-cigarette use, the appeal of flavors was one of the primary reasons cited. The availability of appealing flavors was identified as a key factor influencing the decision to try e-cigarettes among young users. This supports the notion that flavor variety significantly contributes to the appeal of e-cigarettes to young people.
